What’s New at Fintry

We had a great turn out for our AGM last Saturday. Sitting in the peaceful elegance of the Manor House living room among people who share your desire to keep history alive, always a treat.AGM

It’s been a busy year at Fintry. Here are a few highlights from the AGM.Fintry flowersTiger LiliesAGM

BC Parks has agreed to begin renovations on the Manor House this fall. They will start with the upstairs. Not many people know that Fintry is home to an endangered species of bats. Parks will renovate the upstairs to include a caretaker’s suite, extra bedrooms, meeting room and two sealed off areas where the bats can feel at home and not cause any damage. The bat population is critical to our ecosystem and Friends of Fintry, with BC Parks, is doing what they can to protect their numbers.

Our new website is still a work in progress. Our hope is to make the site more interactive using the blog, a working calendar and the use of PayPal for memberships, renewals & donations.

Geocaching is very popular at Fintry. Watch for more on that in the next month.

Fintry has been asked to present &/or set up displays at a number of museums, libraries & seniors residences. There has also been more interest in school groups coming out to learn about our history. I think the bats will add to this interest in the future.

We are now looking at Weddings or other Events at Fintry. This is still in the preliminary stages but should be available for 2016.

Our president for the past 5 years, has decided it is time to step down. Thanks Michael for all the hard work you did and welcome to David, our new president.
