Deb Ferguson’s interest in art was formulated at an early part of her life. Every photo she took, every vista observed was scrutinized for what best composition would work on a canvas. What colours can she use to express that feeling? There was a yearning to create.

Her many travels, hikes and wanderings have always been seen through the eyes of an artist. However, family life, Extensive overseas assignments and a challenging nursing career delayed her painting activities.

In retirement, Deb has been able to focus her energy in oil painting. She loves the buttery rich feel of the oil paints and the blending subtleties it allows. She has ventured into acrylics and pastels but it is oil that gives her flight.

The subjects that interest her the most have tended toward peaceful landscapes and a child’s curiosity. She has a tendency for atypical canvas shapes and a focus on cut off images. She hopes that the viewer can identify with her subject and be transformed into the feelings portrayed.
