FEATURED ARTIST PROFILE

LAURA

MURPHY

Laura Murphy is an Okanagan artist who resides in Vernon and is a proud member of The Okanagan Artists of Canada Society, OACS.

Born and raised in Calgary, Murphy moved to British Columbia in 1993. She worked as a photojournalist and graphic designer and has had her work published in various print publications throughout Canada.

Inspired by Van Gogh and Monet, Murphy has been painting with oils since 2020. Previously, much of her artistic focus was working with acrylics, watercolor and mixed media. Her art has been exhibited in Oliver, Peachland Art Gallery, Lake Country, and Vernon. She also commissions art pieces.

"I’ve always had a passion for landscapes and nature. My paintings stem from my personal photography references or through Plein Air painting. The ever-changing seasons provide me with the perfect palette for a blank canvas.”
